Music halls with
walls dripping history
and wallpaper equally
music to move you
music within touch
sometimes too close
as the slide moves the crowd,
Rainsoaked and waiting
outside the Inn
while the Innkeeper waits
dry within,
A town shut down
holding their breath as
they watch dreams played out
on a far away field,
Four poster comfort
warmth, adventure
high above the floor
bring your own ropes,
Dive bars and grills and
laundromats with
tables, chairs, and patrons
aged, preserved and fixed in place with
musicians passing through
creating set lists on the fly
acknowledging those better at their craft,
A town shut down
or nearly so
as they avoid the unseasonable
cold,
Searching for items lost
in vain but adventure nonetheless,
Gay bars with fresh coffee and
two pounds of sugar
musicals on the TV
ornaments bouncing off fans,
Hole in the wall restaurants with
new to town servers joining the table and
androgynous servers who didn’t and
solo servers easing through the day,
A meal as much worn
as eaten,
A restaurant with tablecloths
rich wood finishes and a
fortune teller like greeter
is she real or is she Madame Tussauds,
Shops with
shopkeepers in no rush
sharing their day
sharing their knowledge
be it books, bdsm, hats, art, or junk.
Looking towards the next
adventure of exploration and wonder
whatever it may be.
